’Buddy system’ to improve society

Dear editor,

I’m writing in response to an op-ed article, "Buddy Check," written by Hyon O'Brien and published by The Korea Times in the Oct. 15-16 edition.

The article reminded me of my Naval Academy days. All our activities were carried out under this “Buddy Check System” for efficiency, control, comradeship, teamwork and altruism.

What we need to improve our society which is so self-centered, disintegrated, disorderly, self-righteous, careless, might be the Buddy Check System.

I am greatly inspired by this article. I am convinced that we can do so much with this “buddy system.”
