Pet tax plan

Dear editor,

I read a June 9 editorial, “Reconsider pet tax.” I strongly agree with your opinion. I also think that a plan to impose tax on medical treatment for pets such as dogs and cats raises concerns among animal lovers.

One of the worst things is that the government is trying to find more taxable sources from pet owners in order to increase its tax revenue. The pet tax is feared to increase the financial burden on people.

Also, some animal lovers may even abandon their pets because they would feel a greater financial burden. Many pets will be left on the street with nowhere else to go. And then we will have many problems with abandoned pets. We have to pay more attention to animal rights.

Nowadays there are lots of pet lovers in Korea. They regard pets as part of their families. Animals also have their own rights just as people enjoy human rights.
