Time for concrete plan of action

By M.M. Goel

It hardly needs any justification that there are negative implications of nuclear terrorism for the entire world, including South and North Korea, Iran, India and China.

The provocation of North Korea for launching a satellite atop a long range rocket to honor its founder Kim Il-sung is not in good taste and deserves to be stopped by the world leaders including China by arriving at a consensus in the second Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul.

In my humble opinion, China has a definite role to play for enhancing its credibility for serving the world with “Made in China” products for all categories of consumers with increased propensities to consume.

For the world of wisdom to exist for preventing a nuclear world war, we need to stop a war of words blaming one another as politicians with polluted minds should be faithful to the intentions of the will of the people as advocated by outstanding Indian economist Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

There is a definite role for United Nations Security Council members (both permanent and temporary) for strategic diplomacy of the highest order by using the leaders in all walks of life with worldwide wisdom, not a World Wide Web of confusion created by an information revolution.

To stop the threat of nuclear war becoming a reality, we need proper, productive and practical solutions which will lead to peace, progress and prosperity.

We should be ready for a change in our mindset for the cause of coexistence. The present era of competition wants us to change ourselves. There is a strong case for learning to live and work together instead of a rat race of competition which is healthy as well as unhealthy. As a strong protagonist of sports in the strict sense of the word, I advocate healthy competition among us with the spirit of sportsmanship. I am against unhealthy competition which is bad economics as well as politics.

Cooperation with coordination (not conflict) is the mantra to save the world from unhealthy competition. I honestly believe that the long-term gains from the abandonment of nuclear programs will be more than expected.

It will generate faith and confidence in the basic fundamentals of the world economy which needs to be strengthened to meet the challenges of FEAR (False evidence appearing real) and panic from the so-called global economic crisis. It should be clearly understood by any progressive economy that it is not economic factors but non-economic factors are becoming more important to face challenges.

The abandonment of nuclear weapons is wisdom of the highest order with far-reaching long-term implications with standing ovations to the leaders gathered in Seoul to do justice to humanity. There is a warranty and guarantee for the economic, social, cultural and political security which is assured for the world.

We must adopt a systematic diagnosis taking lessons from economic history. We should not repeat our mistakes time and again, which could act as a watch tower.

Let us learn to behave in human relationships by replacing lip service and informal arm twisting with concrete plans of action, which is the need of the day.
