The health ministry will reward people who blow the whistle on hospitals that use illegal means to attract foreign patients.
They will receive up to 10 percent of fines or financial penalties imposed on violating hospitals, the ministry said Friday.
Rewards will be given to those who report licensed medical institutions or recruiters who attract foreign patients without proper registration; those who attract foreign patients with a borrowed license, and those who run ads in unauthorized locations or use false or exaggerated ads.
Whistleblowers can report up to 10 times a year and will be rewarded after the cases are proven by related state agencies or the court. The Medical Korea Information Center will take reports through emails, letters or on its homepage.
