Most young people picked comedian Yoo Jae-suk as their top role model in a survey released on Monday.
Cash Slide of NBT, a startup advertising company targeting mobile phones, conducted the survey in celebration of Coming-of-Age Day on Monday, which congratulates those who have reached 20. The respondents were 1,197 people who will turn 20 this year.
The survey’s result showed the largest portion of the respondents - 40.1 percent - chose Yoo as the person they most wanted to emulate. Figure skater Kim Yu-na was second with 27.6 percent.
Daum Kakao Chairman Kim Bum-soo was third with 8.4 percent, followed by entertainer Kim Je-dong (4.8 percent) and celebrated travel writer and relief worker Han Bi-ya (4.2 percent).
Asked the most important virtue needed to be a good adult, most respondents (30.2 percent) cited responsibility. Earnestness came second with 20.2 percent, followed by consideration for others (16 percent).
Asked what type of person they did not want to emulate, 31.4 percent cited people who did not respect younger people as the worst types. A total of 27.5 percent also cited egotists.
