After rain fell in many parts of the country over the past few days, rainbows appeared across cities on Sunday evening.
Bands of color brightened the sky above Seoul and Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gangwon and Gyeongsang provinces. Double rainbows were also seen in some of the regions.

Hundreds of people grabbed their cameras and phones to capture the natural phenomenon. Citizens also enjoyed the fresh air as the scorching heat finally relented after the rain.
"This is the first time I have seen a rainbow in years," a netizen said on Twitter. "It seems like Mother Nature gave us a present after the hot summer."

On Monday, the weather bureau forecast that temperatures would remain cool and that it would rain sporadically across Seoul and Gyoenggi Province under the influence of an east wind in the afternoon.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a rainbow is created by refraction and reflection of light in water droplets.

A double rainbow appears when there are two reflections inside a raindrop. The secondary rainbow is usually fainter and displays colors in reverse order.
