NK deletes Kim dynasty pictures from textbooks

All pictures of Kim Jong-un’s family have been removed from North Korean textbooks, according to Asiapress, a Japanese media network.

The report comes after Asiapress acquired 75 North Korean elementary, middle and high school textbooks.

Ishimaru Jiro, an expert on the North Korean regime at Asiapress, speculated that Pyongyang ordered there be no photos to prevent children from drawing on them.

The books are rumored to carry texts that idolize the incumbent leader, Kim Jong-un, his late father Kim Jung-il and grandfather Kim Il-sung. The texts encouraged students “to become true sons and daughters of respected general Kim Jong-un” and depicted Kim as an exceptional revolutionary leader who possessed various skills.

Defacing pictures of Kim’s family in any form is viewed as a crime in North Korea.
