In a meeting under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) on Thursday afternoon at the U.S. military base in Yongsan, Seoul, the two sides signed a revised version of the "Agreed Recommendation."
The guidelines now require United States Forces Korea (USFK) to report the name, amount and purpose of any samples they want to bring into South Korea and the sending and receiving organizations.
The guidelines are effective immediately.
The changes follow the delivery from the U.S. of what could have been a live anthrax sample to USFK's biochemical laboratory at Osan Air Base in April.
