A professor at a Daejeon university is under social media attack for requiring his students to be parking attendants at his daughter's wedding.
In a Facebook post, a student said the professor canceled class on Thursday, instead requiring students to come to his daughter's wedding on Saturday to help with parking.
According to the post, the professor said: “If the students failed to show up, they would be counted as absent.”
The content was shared on the university's Facebook page, attracting more than 2,000 “likes.” Some Facebook users demanded the professor be punished.
After the post generated heated controversy, the professor sent students a text message saying they did not have to come to the wedding and he would notify them about a makeup class for the one that was canceled.
The school said it would require the professor to submit a statement about the incident and prevent such an incident from recurring.
