Korean Air, the nation's largest carrier, is sponsoring the Korean language audio guide service for the Musee d'Orsay in France to help Korean visitors to better understand the exhibitions there.
Korean Air Chairman Cho Yang-ho and Musee d'Orsay President Guy Cogeval, along with guests from the cultural, economic and sports worlds, celebrated the launch of the museum's first-ever Korean-language audio guide service at the museum in Paris, Monday.
In addition to the language service, the museum also has printed materials, including maps and catalogs, in the Korean language.
"The ceremony to celebrate the introduction of the Korean audio guide at the Musee d'Orsay is particularly special to us, as this year marks the 40th anniversary of Korean Air's service between Paris and Seoul. I know that the audio guide, with its informative commentary, will make it easier for Korean visitors to fully appreciate the important works of art housed at the museum," Cho said.
The museum on the left bank of the river Seine in Paris was formerly a railway station. It officially opened in December 1986 and houses mainly French art dating between 1848 and 1915, including paintings, sculptures, furniture and photographs.
It houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces in the world, such as works by Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. The museum as a cultural space is widely known as a place for artistic performance and education.
Korean Air has been sponsoring various cultural exchanges to raising awareness of Korean culture. It has partnered with London's British Museum and St. Petersburg's State Hermitage Museum.
Korean Air said it will continue to form partnerships with the world's prestigious museums and to contribute to cultural exchanges.
The airline serves 612 million passengers annually through more than 16,320 daily flights to 1,052 destinations in 177 countries.
