A U.S. Army colonel jumped from an apartment in Seoul in an apparent suicide, police said Thursday.

Yongsan Police Station said the 38-year-old colonel working for the 8th U.S. Army, identified only by the initial S, was found dead earlier in the day in the parking lot of an apartment building in central Seoul.

Fire authorities said the colonel was found by a neighbor around 5:55 a.m. but was already dead by the time paramedics took him to a nearby hospital.

"There are no signs of an outsider having broken in," police said, adding that no suicide note was found.

While he is suspected to have committed suicide, police said they are still investigating the details of the incident. (Yonhap)
