Britain is known for its royal family, Big Ben and the Beatles. Now, British design, combining the traditional and the contemporary, has made its mark in Korea.

The British Lifestyle Showcase 2015, featuring 23 British brands, was held at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul on March 17.

Something glittering always catches the eye and jewelry from TINALILIENTHAL and Simon Harrison was no exception.

TINALILIENTHAL, designed by owner-designer Tina Lilienthal, offers a large collection encompassing fashion and fine jewelry. Some designs are inspired by primitive motifs such as spearheads and totems, while others have a whimsical take, combining skulls and strawberries.

Harrison's jewelry, loved by celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, takes inspiration from fairytales, such as the frog-shaped brooch from the "Princess and the Frog."

MayraFedane is famous for its geometrically shaped handbags. The brand, which started as a made-to-order label in 2012, has expanded its collection. The unique combination of colorful patterns and a mix and match of materials reflect the Scottish tradition with a witty twist.

Sarah Wray, of fashion brand Rose and Rose, said being based in London became the identity of the brand, which was founded in 2010. It offers a wide range of knit and other fabric products made by grandmothers from Ireland using traditional techniques, but updated with trendy designs and seasonal colors.

Sweet Cecily's is a brand of skincare products known for its cute packaging as well as the quality of its signature clay mask and night cream. Korea has an ever-expanding cosmetics market attracting tourists from all over Asia and Sweet Cecily's wants a slice of this dynamic market.

AVLAKIDEESIDE - Mineral water
The lifestyle showcase would not be complete without food and beverages, although the U.K. is not known for its cuisine.

Natalie Wheen, of Avlaki Limited, introduced high-end olive oils from her company made with olives harvested in December, for optimal taste. "Nutritional awareness has changed the U.K. food and beverage scene and now the organic and gourmet market is rapidly growing," Wheen said.

"Royal" water also appeared at the showcase. Deeside Mineral Water is also known as the water of the royal family. It is claimed the bottled water is one of the secrets of Queen Elizabeth's long life. It is also said to be a favorite of U.S. President Barack Obama and actor Tom Cruise.
