A Korean-American man named Roh Kil-nam has reportedly won an award from North Korea for publishing a Pyongyang-friendly newspaper.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Roh was awarded the Kim Il-sung Prize, named after the country's founder, for publishing the Minjok Tongshin.
Roh was born in the South but immigrated to the United States, reports said.
YTN reported that he received his master's degree from Kim Il-sung University in 2008 and has visited North Korea 62 times.
Roh apparently won the honor in April around the time of Kim Il-sung's birth anniversary.
Roh held a protest in New York City while President Park Geun-hye last month for the U.N. General Assembly. He reportedly worked for a number of Korean-American publications before establishing his paper.
