McDonald's Korea is taking advantage of a craze among customers for honey butter flavor.
The franchise is putting the flavor into its McFlurries ice cream.
The fast food chain has also marketed French fries with that flavor.
Interestingly, the honey-butter McFlurries are not on the menu, but being served until March 8.
Moon Jong-won, the franchise's public relations manager, said, "We thought because the main item is French fries and honey butter powder to go with it, our customers would also like an ice cream option."
Honey butter-flavored McFlurries are only available in Korea.
"The honey-butter popularity is only in Korea, that's why," Moon said.
The honey butter flavor is a major hit following Haitai's release of Honey Butter Chips.
Other chipmakers followed suit by adding the flavor to their products.
Lotte's Honey Potato Chips, Home Plus's Honey and Butter Kettle Chips, and Orion's Oh! Potato honey milk flavors are among those feeding the honey butter craze.
CU also released its own product -- the Honey Butter Grill Bar, a sausage snack, honey sour popcorn and sweet honey potato sticks.
The popularity also extends to Ministop's Honey Butter Toast Sand, a sandwich, and honey butter wedge potatoes, an instant dish served at the store.
"We know how popular McDonald's French fries are, so we wanted to try a special flavor for an enjoyable experience by adding a honey butter seasoning that's recently been receiving much attention," Cho Ju-yeon, the vice president of McDonald's Korea said in a press release.
