Korea-Israel ICT seminar held
Israeli Ambassador Uri Gutman said Tuesday that his country is willing to work with the Korean government to move President Park Geun-hye's creative economy forward.
In a speech trade official Shay Feiler read on behalf of the Israeli envoy for the Korea-Israel ICT Seminar at Seoul Garden Hotel, Gutman said Israel has a strong record in startup companies while South Korea has strong conglomerates.
The two economies are complimentary, Gutman, who canceled his attendance at the seminar in the last minute for an unspecified prominent figure's visit to Korea, noted in the speech.
President Park's creative economy calls for strong startups with innovative ideas as a new engine for economic growth.
During a presentation, Feiler said that over 700 startups are created every year in Israel and nearly half of them are successful, while the other half fail to succeed.
The embassy hosted the ICT seminar to introduce Israeli companies that are set to join the Mobile World Congress slated for March 2 to 5 in Spain.
Roy Barzilay, president of B Consulting, previewed business areas and strengths of those Israeli companies to help Korean businesses find possible business partners.
People from Korean ICT companies attended the seminar.

Korea shares knowhow on integration
The Ministry of Unification agreed with the Colombian government to share South Korea's experience in integrating new settlers into the society to help the war-torn Latin American country.
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding in Bogota on Tuesday (local time) to share South Korea's affirmative action designed to help North Korean defectors adjust to the South Korean society.
In Colombia, the peace talks are underway between the Colombian government and rebels to end a civil war which had lasted nearly five decades.
On Wednesday, the unification ministry said that the Colombian government is now operating a program to integrate rebels into society.
The ministry said that the knowledge sharing program will help the international community understand how South Korea has integrated some 25,000 North Korean defectors into the society and that it will also help its endeavor to achieve unification.
This is the second time that South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding regarding experiences in social integration with a foreign government following the one signed with Germany in 2010.
