Thousands of employees working at the World Trade Tower and ASEM Tower buildings in southern Seoul participated in an emergency evacuation drill on Tuesday.
While such practices have been rare in Korea, there has been heightened awareness for safety since last month's ferry disaster that has left more than 300 people dead or missing.
The Korea International Trade Association (KITA), which organized the drill, said more than 9,000 employees from 245 companies using the buildings participated in the practice, which required them to evacuate the buildings through stairs and move to designated outdoor areas.
The employees were also educated on basic safety skills such as using fire extinguishers.
