Actor Jang Geun-suk, who will return to the small screen with a television drama Wednesday, said that he wants to reestablish himself as an actor.

"I chose this work to reclaim my name as star actor Jang Geun-suk," the 26-year-old actor said Monday, speaking in a press conference for "Pretty Boy." The drama will go on air Wednesday on KBS, according to Yonhap News.

The talented actor also has a singing career, holding concerts overseas.

"I felt lonely while on stages, and I felt that perhaps other things such as acting have become the mainstay of my life," Jang said, adding why he chose to return to television.

The new drama is based on a cartoon of the same name about a man who is blessed with "national-treasure" looks and learns through successful women lessons in life.

The actor is wildly popular in Japan with his café in Tokyo and where he also released the mobile simulation game dubbed the "Jang Geun-suk Dokimeki Love Story Game." His last television drama was also with KBS "Love Rain" that did not garner the expected high ratings. The actor shrugged off the pressure of ratings, saying that he realized he needs to grow as an actor before tackling the ratings.
