The 300-member delegation, including Beijing's Vice Mayor Yang Xiaochao and other government officials, will arrive in the South Korean capital on Wednesday to attend the ceremony marking "Beijing Week" that runs until Friday, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
During the celebration period in honor of the 20 years of sister city ties, the two sides are scheduled to hold their first plenary session of the integration council to discuss how to deepen cooperation in diverse fields such as the economy, culture and education.
In April, Seoul and Beijing agreed to set up the Seoul-Beijing Integration Council to promote bilateral exchanges in those fields. It is the first time in the world that such a council has been established at the city level.
The officials from China also plan to hold an economic and investment cooperation forum to introduce its investment environments and policy measures, with its Jinfan art troupe to perform a traditional opera and dance, according to the Seoul government.
"We will set up concrete exchange programs with Beijing and carry them out on a regular basis in order to achieve the future of the shared growth," said Chung Hyo-seong in charge of the city's department of planning and policy coordination. (Yonhap)
