The police caught a pickpocket who played good Samaritan to drunken men. The man, a Kim in his 50s was caught near a traditional market in Seodaemun, Seoul Tuesday.
Kim pretended to help the drunken men get a cab, and made off with what he needed, said the police.
A victim reported after he found out his wallet was missing after what he mistakenly thought was a kind man’s help.
The police said that they decided to go undercover since similar cases were reported near the area.
They analyzed the footage of CCTV (closed-circuit television), and found a man with a black cap and a jacket. It was Kim caught on tape making the same move as he typically did. He was arrested on the spot.
Kim had prior criminal records and served jail time for robbing a home, and it was in prison where he learned how to pick pockets, according to police statement.
