Stepmother reprimanded for killing child with salt
The police in Incheon have arrested a 50-year-old woman who allegedly killed her 11-year-old stepdaughter by feeding her an excessive amount of salt.
The elementary school student reportedly suffered from natrium poisoning after consuming excessive amounts of salt in her food. The young girl was found dead Aug. 12 and her father called 119. Finding that she had multiple bruises on her body, the medical staff contacted the police. It took the police months to figure out what had happened. Then the medical examiners came up with a report that the death was caused by a shock resulting from an excessive intake of salt. After questioning her 14-year-old brother, the police found out that the dead girl was habitually beaten by the stepmother. Investigators discovered a diary of the dead girl and items used to beat her up and eventually got a confession from the stepmother. The stepmother apparently took out her anger resulting from conflicts with her parents-in-law on her stepdaughter by feeding her with food containing excessive salt and beating her up when she was drunk. “I did not mean to kill her,” she said. |
