'Want a divorce? We have the solution'

The police have taken in a couple who specialized in tracking down spouses who commit adultery and help to push for divorces

The 55-year-old Choi works as legal aid at a law firm the wife, a 50-year-old Lee, ran an assistance center which mainly worked on spouses who were out and about on sexual exposes.

According to the police, the couple has been operating the assistance center from June last year and accepted accounts for taking photographs of people having extramarital affairs in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. They reportedly followed more than 40 people on their “mission.”

Staff of the assistance center used global positioning systems to track down the people suspected of engaging in extramarital affairs and Lee picked from 500,000 to 800,000 won ($450-730) per day in fees, earning a total of 300 million won ($270,000) in the process.

It came to light that Choi told clients who came to consult about divorces that they needed evidence to proceed.

A police investigator said upon indicting 58 people related to the incident, “It is unusual that a group would engage in the activity of not only tracking down couples having affairs but using that as evidence to cause divorces and earning profits in the process.”
