One of the main U.S. fighting vehicles is the Humvee, a highly capable four-wheel drive armored truck developed by AM General. The vehicle transports troops on the battlefield protecting them from bullets. It took over the role on the Jeep, which became famous during the Second World War.

Korean-style vehicle similar to this will be developed for mass production in 2016. Kia Motors Corp. said Monday that it has signed a contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) to develop and supply a small-sized next-generation tactical vehicle.

The administration will spend 21.6 billion won in developing the vehicle, which has yet to be named.
It will be the first multi-purpose small tactical vehicle in Korea. Kia plans to develop it to meet purposes, such as fight commanding, armored reconnaissance patrols, close maintenance support and artillery observation, in diverse specifications.

To this end, the type of vehicles will be divided into basic, major axis-type, bulletproof and non-bulletproof depending on use.

Kia plans to boost its mobility and survivability to the maximum. It will run up to 100km an hour with a range of 480km, and will be able to cross water 76centimeters deep.
