Listen

Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Zambian President Michael Sata agreed Wednesday to work together to strengthen cooperation in resource development, construction and development assistance, the presidential office said.

Sata arrived in Seoul on Monday for a five-day visit that includes a summit with Lee, a meeting with South Korean business leaders, attendance in a Korea-Africa cooperation forum and visits to industrial facilities. He is the first Zambian president to visit Korea.

In Wednesday's summit, Lee and Sata expressed satisfaction with the steady development of relations between the two countries, and pledged to make joint efforts to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, resource development and construction, the office said.

The leaders also agreed to bolster agricultural and development cooperation, it said.

Korea and Zambia forged diplomatic relations in 1990.

Trade volume between the two countries amounted to $525 million last year. (Yonhap)
