Prosecutors said Tuesday they will again summon a lawmaker from the progressive party later this week for questioning over alleged election fraud.

Rep. Lee Seok-ki of the minor opposition Unified Progressive Party (UPP) has been asked to appear before prosecutors at 10 a.m. on Friday for questioning over allegations he inflated the cost of services provided to politicians while running an election campaigning agency, in violation of the election law, according to prosecutors.

Lee defied an earlier request by prosecutors to be questioned on Tuesday.

Lee's CN Communications is suspected of exaggerating its campaign expenses for UPP candidates for the 2010 local elections and April's general elections, they added.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, which has been investigating the case, said it is mulling over other legal options if Lee ignores the second summons as he snubbed the first.

Prosecutors have already raided the private offices of the 50-year-old left-leaning lawmaker as part of their probe into the alleged fraud. (Yonhap)
