Man dismembers wife after quarrel

A government worker, Jin, was seen leaving his apartment with plastic packages at dawn Sept. 8 on CCTV (closed circuit television) images in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.

It turned out that the man was transporting the dismembered remains of his wife he allegedly murdered following a quarrel, Paju police said, adding that the 46-year-old was being charged with murder.

Police investigators said Jin got home to his apartment in Kumchon-dong in Paju at around 8 p.m. Sept. 7, killed his wife after a quarrel, dismembered her body and buried it in hills some 5 kilometers away.

Two days later, he reported to the police that his wife has not been touch for over the past three days. He said she told their children that she was going to work and did not come home.

The police investigating the case found the recordings in the apartment CCTV and did not find Jin’s wife leaving the premises. But they detected Jin leaving the apartment with plastic bags and a backpack at around 4 a.m. Sept. 8.

They also found traces of human blood in the bathroom and the entrance of the apartment.

The police suspected that Jin was the culprit and traced the location of his car which led to him using an ATM (automated teller machine) in Gwangju.

Jin was tracked down and taken into custody in Icheon, Geonggi Province.

Jin attempted suicide by consuming germicide that he apparently prepared but was rushed to a nearby hospital and was reportedly in stable condition.

부인을 토막 살해한 진모씨가 지난 8일 새벽 시신을 비닐봉투 등에 나눠 담아 아파트 밖으로 들고 나가는 모습이 아파트 CCTV에 포착됐다. 파주경찰서 제공 40대 현직 공무원이 부인을 살해한 뒤 시신을 토막 내 유기하는 끔찍한 사건이 발생했다.

경기 파주경찰서는 10일 부부싸움을 하다 부인을 토막 살해한 혐의(살인 등)로 파주시청 기능직 공무원 진모(46)씨를 검거했다고 밝혔다.

진씨는 지난 7일 오후 8시쯤 파주시 금촌동 자신의 아파트에서 부인 김모(44)씨를 살해하고 시신을 절단해 집에서 5㎞ 정도 떨어진 야산에 유기한 혐의를 받고 있다.

진씨는 토막 살인 뒤 이틀이 지난 9일 오후 3시 9분쯤 금촌파출소에 '아내가 집을 나간 지 3일째인데 연락이 안 된다'고 가출인 신고를 했다. 진씨는 이어 오후 5시쯤 "일을 하러 나갔다 오겠다"며 자녀들에게 말한 후 잠적했다.

수사에 착수한 경찰이 아파트 현관에 설치된 CC(폐쇄회로)TV 기록을 확인한 결과, 진씨 부인이 아파트 밖으로 나간 흔적은 찾을 수 없었다. 대신 진씨가 8일 새벽 4시 8분부터 13분까지 약 5분간 세 차례에 걸쳐 계단을 통해 등산용 배낭과 비닐봉지 세 개를 밖으로 옮기는 장면이 찍혀 있었다. 또한 진씨 아파트 욕실과 출입문에서는 사람의 것으로 보이는 혈흔도 발견됐다.

경찰은 진씨를 유력한 용의자로 지목하고 진씨의 차량을 수배했다. 달아나던 진씨는 10일 오후 1시 15분쯤 경기 광주시에서 은행ATM을 사용한 흔적이 포착됐고, 오후 2시 10분쯤 경기 이천시 관고동에서 경찰에 붙잡혔다.

진씨는 검거 직전 미리 준비한 농약을 마시고 자살을 시도했지만 즉시 병원으로 옮겨진 뒤 위세척을 받아 생명에는 지장이 없는 상태다.
