Foreigners wanted for city promotion
By Kim Bo-eun
Seoul Metropolitan Government is recruiting foreigners to advertise the charms of the capital through social networking services (SNS) in various languages. The city will select a total of 90 “Global Seoul-Mates,” 30 each who speak English, Japanese and Chinese. They will be expected to use social media, to share promotional content they create, including videos, pictures and text message updates. Foreigners who love the city are invited to apply starting today. Preference will be given to those who have an established presence on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. Along with promotional content, participants can also post personal thoughts and opinions on how the city could become a more pleasant place, which the metropolitan government will take into consideration and possibly act upon. Content that city officials view as being helpful will also be posted on Seoul City’s main website for foreigners and links will be provided to social media. Participants will be able to use the official “Global Seoul-Mates” symbol on their personal SNS channels and also have the opportunity to take part in global marketing promotional events as well as receive gifts. “The Global Seoul-Mate project is meant to promote the city’s core values of participation and communication,” said a city official. “We are hoping that through this project participants will continue producing promotional content and spread them, making them more easily available for people around the world.” This is the second time the city will have recruited participants, following the first time in February this year when 110 foreigners were selected. Those interested can apply by visiting Seoul’s foreign languages websites at http://english.seoul.go.kr, http://chinese.seoul.go.kr and http://japanese.seoul.go.kr. |
