Prosecutors to summon lawmaker for questioning again

Prosecutors in Busan said Saturday they plan to call in a former ruling party lawmaker again for questioning over allegations that she used bribes to win a proportional representation ticket ahead of April's general elections.

Rep. Hyun Young-hee, who was expelled from the ruling Saenuri Party on Friday, is suspected of passing about 300 million won (US$264,700) in bribes to a member of the party's committee responsible for nominating proportional candidates.

She has denied the allegations.

Prosecutors in the port city of Busan have questioned Hyun twice so far, on Aug. 6 and on Friday, and plan to call her in again for another questioning as early as Sunday, as she has been uncooperative with the investigation, officials said.

"There is little she has said so far," an official said. "We will ask her to come in as early as Sunday, and unless there is a change in her attitude, we cannot but summon her again one or two times more." (Yonhap)
