The Korea Times and its sister paper the Hankook Ilbo will host the China Forum 2012 on July 19 at the Hotel Shilla in Seoul to mark the publication of 20,000th edition of the paper.
Under the theme “Korea-China, Prospects and Challenges in the Next 20 Years,” nearly 700 distinguished guests from Korea, China and international organizations are expected to attend the event to exchange ideas on fostering better bilateral ties.
They will assess the countries’ relationship over the past years and suggest ways to bolster ties for the future.
On the Korean side, Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik, Mayor of Seoul Park Won-soon and Chae Wook, president of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, will be present at the event.
The Chinese participants will include Zho Jinping from the Department of Foreign Economic Research; Zhu Feng, a Peking University professor; and Pei Changhong, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Karin Finkelston, vice president of the International Finance Corp., will deliver a keynote speech to the forum.
A reception from 6 p.m. will follow after the forum ends.
