Ex-MBC producer stabbed

Eun Kyung-pyo, a former producer of the country’s second largest broadcaster, MBC, was stabbed Saturday while brawling with a man over a financial matter, police said.

Eun was wounded in the thigh and jaw, but his life is not in danger. He is receiving treatment at a hospital.

According to police, Eun was attacked in a back alley near a hotel in Yeoido, Seoul. The attacker, identified as Park in his 50s, wielded a knife covered with a towel.

Eun told police that he met with Park, an acquaintance, after receiving a call from him. They had no contact with each other over the past 10 years.

Eun was bleeding when police arrived at the scene after receiving a call from a passer-by.

“Park dropped the knife after officers warned that they would use tear gas,” a witness said.

The exact reason for the altercation is not known but witnesses said they were arguing over money.
