MBC TV head Kim Jae-cheol and his alleged lover spent a night in a Japanese hotel, her husband claimed, according to a lawmaker.

Yun Kwan-seok of the main opposition Democratic United Party made public the husband’s letter Wednesday, calling on Kim to resign at the general meeting of the communications commission committee at the National Assembly in Yeouido, southwest Seoul. Her husband is a Japanese international lawyer.

"The husband twice sent letters to Kim demanding an apology after confirming that his wife and the MBC head stayed at the New Awaji hotel near Osaka during the Chuseok holiday last year, but he didn't respond,” said Yun, insisting the commission take action. “So the husband sent a third letter."

He wrote, "I am sure that my wife stayed at the hotel on Sept. 11, 2011. I even confirmed it with the hotel manager."

"It’s best for you to step down from the job without hesitation so that I will not dig into the relationship any further. This is the last chance. I recommend that you make your decision right now" he added.

But MBC’s public relations office told Internet newspaper Hankooki.com, "This is not true. Kim only borrowed her phone and left her number at the hotel to contact others while staying in Japan. This means that they are just have a normal business relationship."

It added, "The MBC labor union distributed the wrong information on their relationship to her husband many times to provoke him so he would protest. They are then using his letters to try and force Kim to step down. But Kim has already refused to do so since they are fakes."
