US envoy on N. Korea to visit Europe

WASHINGTON (Yonhap) -- The U.S. point man on North Korea will visit Moscow, Brussels and Paris this week to discuss ways to deal with the communist nation, the State Department announced Monday.

In his trip to Moscow on Tuesday and Wednesday, Amb. Glyn Davies, special representative for North Korean policy, will meet with "his counterpart Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and other senior officials from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs," according to the department.

Davies will also meet with academics and other government officials to exchange views on the current situation on the Korean peninsula, it said in a press release.

He will then travel to Brussels on Thursday for discussions with non-proliferation and Asia experts in the European Union.

On Friday, he is scheduled to meet in Paris with Paul Jean-Ortiz, French President Hollande's diplomatic adviser, and Jacques Audibert, political director at the foreign ministry, it said.
