By Shin Hyun-deok

In the case of some Asian people, their nose is low or stubby, they look broad-faced and splay-wrinkles on both sides make the mouth protrude with a flat forehead, thus in most cases, they show dissatisfaction with their face and profile.

This explains the phenomenon that most patients visiting plastic surgery initially want to get a nose job; but with the passage of time, the number of operations they want has gradually increased.

Plastic surgery on the nose is one of the most performed surgeries. However, the general impression of the face is decided by the image given by facial features and basic outline, so getting a nose job doesn't mean that a person’s satisfaction gets higher afterward.

In order not to agonize about the choice of plastic surgery, it's important for a patient to get accurate information about which kind of surgery can change his or her own facial “weak spots.”

In recent times, "multi-nose plastic surgery" has emerged as a method that can change morphological elements and outline elements through a variety of one-stop operations.

The surgery is a customized nose operation in consideration of the ideal harmony and ratio for cheekbones, forehead, chin, mouth, eyes and the width between the eyebrows on a full face.

This surgery is one which can give more satisfaction than general nose jobs, so the patient who undergoes this surgery can catch two birds with one stone because he or she can get a facial outline improvement together with a change of their nose shape.

The surgery uses a method aimed at not only correcting the shape of the nose but also for giving an organic change to it and adjacent spots by making a plan for post-surgical appearance considering the relation, angle, length and width between the nose and other features, not just the simple height of the nose tridimensional.

Thus, with just a one-time surgery, a patient can get not only the perfect harmony of S-shaped line starting from the forehead to nose but also an improvement effect in a protruding mouth.

The author is a doctor and president of Samsung Line Plastic Surgery.
