Former legislator dies at 70

Choi Sun-young, a former two-term lawmaker, died Wednesday at the age of 70.

Born in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, Choi was elected in 1996 to the National Assembly for the then opposition party the National Congress for New Politics, led by the late former President Kim Dae-jung. Choi was re-elected as a member of the ruling New Millennium Party in 2000.

He is survived by six daughters. A funeral service will be held at Bucheon St. Mary’s Hospital in Gyeonggi Province.
