KECO wins water-related innovation award

The International Water Association (IWA) has chosen the Korea Environment Corp. (KECO) as the winner of the fourth Asia Pacific and East Asia Regional Project Innovation Award in recognition for KECO’s piped water supply system.

KECO said Tuesday that it won for its achievements in their water distribution systems and local water supply operating projects.

IWA established the award to promote technological innovation in water engineering across the world by recognizing industries, local governments, and individuals with successful water-related projects.

Award recipients are nominated every two years from the following regional forums: Asia Pacific and East Asia, Europe, North America and West Asia.

The 2012 IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition, a biennial event that attracts 5,000 water professionals, companies and institutions worldwide, will be held in Busan from Sept. 16 to 21. The PIA awards will be presented during the event.

“We will try our best to compete for a global award this coming September in Busan,” a KECO official said.
