Queen Silvia to attend dementia forum in Seoul
Sweden's Queen Silvia Gustaf will inaugurate a forum on dementia in Seoul Thursday on the occasion of Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf's state visit to Korea, forum organizers said Monday.
The Swedish Queen will fly into Seoul Tuesday to accompany her husband on his four-day state visit, the Daniel Medical Foundation said in a statement. The foundation said it will sponsor the Sweden-Korea Dementia Forum jointly with the Swedish embassy here at the Bucheon Geriatric Medical Center, Daniel Hospital, west of Seoul. Queen Silvia opened a royal dementia center in Copenhagen in 1996 and attended the ceremony in 2008 to inaugurate the "Swedish Center" in Seoul solely in charge of dementia study and the exchange of research and information on dementia between the two countries. While in Korea until Friday, the king and queen will also tour the truce village of Panmunjom and the World Expo under way in the southwestern port city of Yeosu. (Yonhap) |
