Lee calls for thorough preparations to head off fallout from Greek crisis

President Lee Myung-bak instructed aides Monday to make thorough preparations to stave off any negative fallouts from the fiscal crisis in Greece amid fears the debt-ridden nation may be headed out of the single-currency eurozone.

"As uncertainties grow due to the Greece crisis, we have to work together with experts and economic organizations and make thorough preparations for various scenarios," Lee said during a weekly meeting with senior secretaries, according to his spokesman Park Jeong-ha.

"We have to ensure our people won't be concerned about this crisis," he said.

Concerns have risen in recent weeks that Greece may not meet the terms of its bailout and drop out of the eurozone, a scenario that could destabilize the entire European market and beyond. (Yonhap)
