Peru‘s president to visit Korea next week

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala will visit Korea next week for summit talks with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak expected to focus on enhancing resources, energy and other economic cooperation, the presidential office said Tuesday.

The state visit, set for May 10 through 12, will be the first here since Humala took office in July last year.

The May 10 summit is expected to focus on strengthening substantial cooperation in trade and investment, resources and energy, and development, the presidential office said in a statement.

The sides plan to upgrade their relations to a "comprehensive strategic partnership," it said.

During the trip, the Peruvian leader also plans to attend the opening ceremony of the World Expo in Yeosu, tour a petrochemical complex in the southeastern city of Ulsan and attend an investment session. (Yonhap)
