Young adults invited to join delegation for China trip

The government will invite a total of 218 adolescents and young adults to join a Korean delegation to be dispatched to China from Aug. 8-15, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family said Wednesday.

This is the second Korean delegation this year to be sent to the neighboring country under a special youth exchange program between the two nations.

Those hoping to participate can file applications via the website of the International Youth Exchange Network (http://iye.youth.go.kr) from May 24-June 14.
Anyone in the age group 16-24 years is eligible for the places, with high school students preferred. Children from the needy and multicultural families will also be given priority, according to the ministry.

Successful applicants will be announced on June 27, in screening applications and interview.

They will visit Beijing and provincial cities where they will meet with their counterparts to exchange opinions about matters of mutual concern. They will have cultural exchange activities, visit industrial plants, private homes and youth and social facilities to have chances to understand about China more deeply, a ministry official said.

한·중 청소년 특별교류 2차 대표단 모집

여성가족부는 24일부터 6월 14일까지 '2012년 한·중 청소년 특별교류 한국대표단 2차 파견사업'에 참가할 청소년 218명을 모집한다고 23일 밝혔다.

이번에 선발된 청소년은 8월 8-15일 중국 베이징과 지방도시 등을 방문해 현지 청소년과 토론회를 한다. 이와 함께 문화교류활동, 산업체 방문, 가정방문, 청소년 및 사회시설 탐방 등을 통해 중국을 좀 더 깊게 이해할 기회를 얻게 된다.

참가를 희망하는 청소년은 청소년국제교류네트워크(http://iye.youth.go.kr)를 통해 온라인 접수하면 된다.

만 16세부터 24세까지 대한민국 청소년은 누구나 신청할 수 있으며, 특히 10대 청소년이나 일반고교 재학생을 중심으로 선발할 예정이다. 또 기초생활수급자나 다문화 가정 등 소외계층 청소년은 우대 선발한다.

선발은 온라인 서류접수를 통해 서류심사와 면접 심사를 거쳐 이뤄지며 결과는 6월 27일 발표된다.

참가 청소년에게는 왕복 항공료와 숙식비가 지원되며 참가비만 자신이 부담한다. 다만, 기초생활수급자, 다문화 가정 등 소외계층 청소년은 전액을 지원받을 수 있다.
