Cheaper flights available from Seoul to Osaka

By Yun Suh-young

Peach Aviation, a low cost Japanese carrier, launched its first international flight between Seoul and Osaka, Tuesday.

The airline will begin with seven flights a week between Incheon and Kansai international airports and increase this to 21 starting July 1.

A one-way ticket between Seoul and Osaka starts from 75,500 won. During a promotion period between May 14 and July 12, the one-way fare will be offered at 30,000 won — discounted tickets will be sold until May 21. In-flight meals are charged separately.

The flight between Seoul and Osaka was chosen as the airline’s first international route because the two destinations are highest in demand among passengers.

“Korean and Japanese passengers will be able to experience a uniquely Japanese service. Our airline, as the name suggests, offers a cute and cool design and interior,” Peach CEO Shinichi Inoue said during a press conference in Seoul.

As the first budget airline in Japan, Peach began operating flights in March between Fukuoka and Sapporo. It also offers domestic flights between Osaka and Nagasaki as well as Osaka and Kagoshima. It plans to expand its international routes to Hong Kong and Taipei.

“Any location within a four-hour flight range is considered as our destination. We pick them based on cost which is why our airfares are so cheap,” said Inoue.
