National Assembly passes resolution condemning NK‘s rocket launch

National Assembly passed Wednesday a resolution denouncing North Korea for launching a long-range rocket last month and warning the communist country against further provocations.

The resolution was adopted by the National Assembly's defense committee on April 13, hours after the North's defiant rocket launch that ended in failure.

The resolution condemned the North's launch of a long-range missile as a provocative act that threatens the safety and lives of the South Korean people as well as the security of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia.

It also warned that South Korea would firmly respond to any further provocations by North Korea.

Speculation has grown that North Korea may be ready for more provocations following the failed rocket launch, including a nuclear test.

The North's defiant launch drew strong condemnation from the United Nations Security Council. (Yonhap)
