Korea, Spain agree to enhance economic cooperation, friendly ties

President Lee Myung-bak and Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy Brey agreed Wednesday to cooperate closely to move economic cooperation and other relations between the two sides further forward, the presidential office said.

The summit was Lee's first meeting with Rajoy since the prime minister took office in December. The Spanish leader has been in Seoul to attend the Nuclear Security Summit that concluded two days of meetings Tuesday. The trip is Rajoy's first to Asia since his inauguration.

The two leaders agreed that relations between the two countries have moved steadily ahead in economic, political and various other areas since they established diplomatic ties in 1950, pledging to further promote the friendly ties, the presidential office said in a statement. (Yonhap)
