10 caught for obscene footage via smartphones

A group of people were caught for disseminating obscene footage on the Internet via smartphones, police said Tuesday.

Dongbu Police Station in Daegu said 10 men and women were questioned on suspicion of violating a law banning the distribution of pornographic clips through telecommunication networks.

Police said a 23-year-old man, surnamed Kwon, is suspected of having webcast his sexual relations with his girlfriend live using his smartphone last month after signing up with an Internet broadcasting service.

He also filmed the sexual behavior of nine other people and released it in the same way, police said. “Dissemination of pornographic footage via smartphones is subject to punishment,” a police officer said.

대구 동부경찰서는 26일 스마트폰을 이용해 유사 성행위 등을 실시간 인터넷으로 방송해 유포한 A(23)씨 등 10명을 정보통신망 이용촉진 및 정보보호 관한 법률 상 음란물 유포 등의 혐의로 붙잡아 조사하고 있다.경찰에 따르면 A씨는 여자친구 B(18•여)씨와 3월12일 오후 8시40분께 개인 인터넷 방송 서비스를 제공하는 사이트에 가입하고 스마트폰을 이용해 유사 성행위 장면을 실시간으로 방송한 혐의를 받고 있다.

또 이들은 스마트폰으로 다른 사람 또는 자신의 신체 등을 촬영해 실시간으로 인터넷에 유포한 것으로 드러났다.

경찰관계자는 "최근 급격히 보급된 스마트폰을 이용해 공연음란 및 사생활 침해하는 개인 인터넷 방송에 대한 기획수사를 벌인 결과, 최초로 유포 행위를 적발했다"며 "스마트폰을 이용해 음란물을 유포하면 형사처벌의 대상이 될 뿐만 아니라 다른 사람 얼굴을 촬영해 방송하면 명예훼손죄를 받을 수 있으니 스마트폰 사용자의 각별한 주의가 필요하다"고 말했다.
