Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province will host the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) general congress in July 2012, the city administration said Wednesday.

More than 2,000 people including environment ministers, civic activists, scholars and others from 11 member states and three observer states are expected to gather at Changwon to discuss the sustainable management of coasts and the prevention of pollution among others.

PEMSEA pursues sustainable development, use and management of coastal and marine resources, and the protection of ecosystems through intergovernmental, interagency, and multi-sector partnerships.
