A Korean plastic surgeon Sunday unveiled composite photos of the most appealing female face for each ethnicity.
Rhee Seung-chul of Inje University Ilsan Paik Hospital’s Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery published a paper on “Attractive Composite Faces” of various races and ethnic groups in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the journal of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
The “attractive” faces were created by composing famous actresses of each country — 13 Africans, 16 Caucasians, 20 Chinese and 14 Japanese.
For instance, Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, and Scarlet Johansson are included in the Caucasian examples, while the African models include Rihanna, Agbani Darego, Yamin Warsame and others.
The faces of Chinese entertainers used for the morphed image are Wei Tang, Li Gong, Maggie Cheung among others, while the Japanese sample is a combination of Juri Ueno, Yuu Aoi, Ryoko Hirosue and 11 more faces.
According to Rhee’s composite picture, the attractive Japanese face has a relatively long stucture with a narrow chin and thick cheeks. The charming Chinese woman has small cheekbones and a slim jaw line.
The average Caucasian beauty has the most masculine face among the ethnic groups. “They have keen eyes, thick lips and protruding cheekbones,” Rhee said in his paper.
The example of an African face has a narrower nose, more acute eyes, and slender chin compared with the ordinary African face.
Rhee said there have been attempts to standardize the face of beauty based on the golden ratio, but it is inaccurate due to racial limitations.
“The composite pictures of the average beauty representing each race will help understand new aesthetic preferences considering the diversity of races and ethnic groups in modern society,” the doctor said.
In 2006, Rhee conducted a similar project with 19 Korean female entertainers and the ideal Korean beauty has thin lips and slightly wide eyes with a sharp nose.
인종별 매력적 미인상 만들어져
한국의 성형외과 전문의가 인종 별로 다른 매력적인 여성의 얼굴을 합성해서 제시했다.
인제대학교 일산백병원 성형외과 이승철 교수는 국제학술지인 미용성형외과 학회지에 흑인, 코카시안, 중국인, 일본인 여성의 매력적인 얼굴을 합성해 논문으로 발표했다.
이 "매력적인" 얼굴들은 각 국가에서 유명한 연예인들의 얼굴을 합성해서 만들어졌다. 흑인 13명, 백인 16명, 중국인 20명, 일본인 14명의 얼굴을 사용했다.
백인의 경우 안젤리나 졸리, 메간 폭스, 스칼렛 요한슨 등이 포함되었으며, 흑인은 리아나, 아그바니 다레고가 있다.
중국인의 합성 사진에는 탕 웨이, 공 리, 장만옥 등이 있고, 일본의 사진에는 우에노 주리, 아오이 유우, 히로스에 료코와 다른 11명의 얼굴이 들어갔다.
이 교수에 따르면 매력적인 일본인의 얼굴은 상대적으로 긴 편에 턱이 좁고 뺨이 도톰하다. 아름다운 중국 여성은 좁은 광대와 갸름한 턱을 가지고 있다.
코카시안 여성은 가장 남성적인 얼굴에 날카로운 눈매와 두툼한 입술, 돌출한 광대가 특징이다.
흑인 여성은 평균적인 얼굴보다 좀 더 날카로운 눈과 갸름한 턱을 가지고 있었다.
