A person who opposed to President Lee Myung-bak’s policy turned out to be among the candidates who applied for Lee’s spokesperson post.
The Cheong Wa Dae in May announced a job vacancy for an online spokesperson for the presidential office.
Among the 200 applicants, the presidential office chose eight individuals as final candidates.
As part of the job qualification screening process, the Cheong Wa Dae checked the candidates’ personal web blogs and Twitter.
During the process, it discovered that one of the candidates signed his name for a campaign that opposed Lee’s environment policy, according to the local DongA Ilbo newspaper.
The individual, who was 30 years old, but was not identified by name, was asked by the Cheong Wa Dae staff: “You don’t like the presidential policy. Then why do you want to become his publicity relations manager?”
The person replied: “It’s true that I placed my name on the campaign that opposed the president’s policy. But it’s based on my personal conviction.
He then emphasized that he could be a good PR official for the Cheong Wa Dae because he could separate his personal conviction from his professional obligation.
