North Korea vowed to continue its efforts for denuclearization and a peace treaty through six-party talks after the U.N. Security Council unanimously adopted a presidential statement on Friday deploring the attack on the South Korean warship, the Cheonan, a move analysts see as the North’s exploring an “exit strategy” from the incident, Yonhap News Agency said.

North Korea is relatively “satisfied” with the world body’s statement, which stopped short of blaming North Korea directly, it said

“The Security Council didn’t adopt any resolution and made a presidential statement that didn’t include any conclusion,” the North’s foreign ministry said on Saturday.

It also said the country “will make consistent efforts for the conclusion of a peace treaty and the denuclearization through the six-party talks conducted on equal footing."

The remarks show that North Korea is satisfied with the presidential statement and wants to exist from the situation to focus on its domestic priorities, including paving the way for the heir-designate and improving its economy, it said.
