Figure skating queen Kim Yu-na has been superb on the ice but poor at studying ㅡ the Olympic gold medalist, a Korea University student, flunked two subjects last semester.
The school did not disclose which subjects the world figure skating champion failed. School officials said Kim had a great deal of international competitions and was unable to participate in mid-term or final exams. They explained Kim submitted papers to replace the exams, but some professors adhere to a "no exam-no grade" policy.
김연아 두 과목 F학점
고려대학교 체육교육과 2학년에 재학 중인 `피겨퀸` 김연아(20)가 빙판에서는 최상이지만 2009년 2과목에서 F학점을 받았던 것으로 드러났다. 하지만 학교 측은 김연아가 어떤 과목에서 F학점을 받았는지는 구체적으로 소개하지 않았다.
고려대 관계자는 6월18일 "2009년 김연아 선수가 잦은 해외 경기 일정과 연습 탓에 출석을 제대로 하지 못했다"며 "2과목에서 F학점을 받은 것으로 알고 있다"고 밝혔다.
이어 학교 관계자는 "김연아 선수가 외부 경기 일정이 많아서 중간, 기말고사를 치르지 못해 F학점을 받았다"며 "시험 대신 리포트를 작성해 제출했는데 해당 과목 교수들이 리포트만으로는 학점을 주기 어렵다고 판단했던 것으로 안다"고 덧붙였다.
