A statue of Walton H. Walker, former 8th U.S. Army commanding general, will be unveiled at the Yongsan Garrison in Seoul next Wednesday.
The ceremony will be held in front of the 8th Army headquarters building, the 8th Army said in a news release Wednesday.
Walker, the first commanding general of the 8th Army, led the successful defense of the Busan (Pusan) Perimeter against North Korean troops during the 1950-53 Korean War.
Former South Korean President Kim Young-sam, U.S. Ambassador Kathleen Stephens and 8th Army Commander Lt. Gen. Joseph F. Fil Jr. will attend the ceremony, according to the release.
