A Korean student in the U.S. received perfect scores in the American college entrance examination.
Lee Ye-dam, a high school junior in Connecticut, received 2,400 points from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), which she took last month, Yonhap news agency said.
It was her first try. A student can sit on the SAT multiple times to improve scores.
Kevin Lee, her father, told Yonhap that he had advised her "to focus on improving her debating skills for English and participate in as many math competitions as possible to get ahead in math."
"I think my daughter's score this time proved my point," said Lee, a former publisher of an educational newspaper.
Last year, Ye-dam was the head of the student council, a peer advisor at the school dormitory, and participated in a school debating team. She is also in charge of the Korean Club. She was the school's representative at a local TV quiz show last year.
The article didn't say which schools she plans to apply.
Approximately 1,000,000 students take the SAT each year and on average, only 20 of them get a perfect score, according to About.com
