In the ultimate fashion nightmare, the former Grey's Anatomy star was on stage at the ShoWest awards ceremony in Las Vegas, when the strap on her red dress broke.
Katherine Heigl, 31, had been accepting the Female Star of the Year award at Thursday's ceremony, which is the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), according to the Telegraph of the United Kingdom.
But as she started to thank the large audience, one of her straps broke, leaving the shocked actress struggling to hold up the dress and cover her modesty.
She continued undeterred, managing to say her thanks, but asking the host, Billy Bush to help hold up the strap.
Heigl, who has recently left the hit TV show to concentrate on movies such as The Ugly Truth, with Gerard Butler, Knocked Up and 27 dresses, later managed to smile and laugh off the incident.

미국 인기 드라마 '그레이 아나토미' 시리즈의 주인공인 배우 캐서린 헤이글이 최근 한 시상식장에서 가슴이 노출될 뻔한 아찔한 사고를 당했다.
헤이글은 지난 18일 미국 라스베이거스에서 열린 '쇼웨스트' 컨벤션 마지막 날, 탤런트 어워즈에서 '올해의 여자 스타상'을 수상하는 영예를 안았다.
헤이글은 이날 드라마에서 선보인 익숙한 금발 대신 길고 풍성한 흑발 스타일로 등장했다. 또 헤어스타일과 완벽한 대비를 이룬 붉은 색 드레스로 탄탄한 몸매를 과시했다.
그러나 시상대에 나와 기쁨의 소감을 말하던 도중, 그녀의 가슴을 감싼 드레스의 한 쪽 끈이 끊어지면서 당혹스러운 순간이 연출됐다.
헤이글은 애써 당황함을 감추고 소감을 이어가려 했으나, 자꾸만 흘러내리는 옷 탓에 더 이상 말을 잇지 못하자 '구세주'가 등장했다. 이날 컨벤션의 사회를 맡은 빌리 부쉬가 그녀의 뒤에서 끊어진 드레스를 잡아 소감을 마무리 할 수 있도록 도와주었던 것이다.
무사히 수상 소감을 마친 헤이글은 급히 무대 뒤로 돌아와 카메라맨들의 시선을 피해 시상식장을 빠져나갔다.
쇼웨스트는 미국 극장주들의 단체인 전국극장주연합(NATO)이 매년 미국 서부에서 개최하는 컨벤션이다.
